NTV journalist Sandra Kahumuza Twinoburyo has graduated from the University of Edinburgh with the best overall performance in the MSc Africa and International Development programme. She also took home the Sam Shepperson Award, a prize given to the student with the top dissertation in African Studies.
Kahumuza joined the programme last year after earning a Chevening Scholarship for the 2024 to 2025 academic year. The UK government funded her studies in full, allowing her to pursue research focused on Africa’s development agenda.
After receiving her honours, she said she was grateful to reach the end of the course and to finish at the top of her class. Her achievement has drawn warm messages from colleagues, viewers, and friends who shared their congratulations across social media.
Kahumuza’s graduation marks the close of a demanding year of academic work. It also adds to her growing profile as a journalist whose reporting often highlights social and development issues.
Her supporters say the awards are a clear sign of her discipline and commitment, both in the newsroom and in the classroom.
