A renown National Unity Platform (NUP) mobiliser and University don Mr. Frederick Rwakyaka was abducted by unknown security personnel from his home in Sonde in the night of July 15, 2022.
This incident happened a few days following his return from the United States where he had travelled to attend the Rotary International Convention that was held in Houston, Texas in June, 2022.
It is alleged that Mr Rwakyaka had plans of mobilizing university students and NUP activists to engage in country wide peaceful demonstrations against the rising prices of essential commodities in the country.
Rwakyaka has been a key NUP mobiliser in university politics in Kampala where the rulling party (National Resistance Movement) NRM has never won a Guild election since 2015.
At the time of filing this story, the price of fuel in the country has increased to Shs 6.500 up from Shs. 4000, people are losing their jobs while there is increased hunger in the country especially in slum areas and Karamoja sub-region.
