A section of bitter Makerere University students have kicked off an online struggle to de-campaign Doreen Nyanjura, the Makerere University LCV Woman Councillor.
Nyanjura, who also doubles as the Lord Mayor’s Deputy has been dragged by some Makerere students who claim she has done nothing for Makerere.
According to Julius Sempembo Serunjogi, a scholar at the Makerere University College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nyanjura works for Kiiza Besigye and Erias Lukwago but not Makerere University. A one Twijukye Boris seems to agree with Serunjogi.
“No one is fighting Nyanjura Doreen but the truth is Nyanjura works for Besigye and Lukwago but not Makerere University that is why she can’t mention anything that she has done to the Makerere community.” Twijukye wrote in the university’s students’ guild group.
Another student branded Nyanjura a user who won’t help anyone once elected.
The bitter students further revealed that they are not ready to vote for someone who only buys alcohol during campaigns, adding that they will vote for someone who will put in the work.
The students want Nyanjura to leave the position for younger ladies at the hill despite being just in her early 30s .
Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago recently appointed Nyanjura as his Deputy Lord Mayor after the resignation of his former deputy Sarah Kanyike.
