Makerere research fellow, Dr Stella Nyanzi has been sent back to Luzira Prison until May 10 since her lawyers had made an application for revision of the proceedings in the High Court. “We can’t proceed today until we get further guidance,” Muwaganya told court. Nyanzi was arrested a month ago for calling President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni “a pair of buttocks” on her Facebook timeline.

Nyanzi’s lawyer Nicholas Opio complained to presiding Chief Magistrate James Ereemye that his client is being subjected to discriminatory treatment to the extent that she has been restricted to have hand written notes, books and or to have a private lawyer- client discussion.

In reply Resident state Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya said that prison is a regulatory facility things such as literature for inmates are censored.

It’s against this background that magistrate Ereemye ruled that he cannot pass judgment against prison authorities who are competent enough to do their work adding that since the concern has been raised, court should now await their feedback.

Nyanzi is facing charges of computer misuse and offensive communication for allegedly posting offensive communication that demeans the president.
