Campus Bee has received a document from the Academics Registrar of Makerere University indicating that only 39 students have been admitted on Government scholarship to study the Bachelor of Laws degree at Uganda’s oldest public university for the academic year 2018/2019.
The list published also shows the marks that the students got in the written pre-entry exams that were conducted about a month ago. Only students that got between 72% and 80% from the pre-entry were awarded the government scholarship for the course.
3 students tied at the top most position all scoring 80% in the written exam, followed by students who scored 78% and below.
It is interesting to note however, that some of the students who scored highly in the exams were not given the scholarships. Two students garnered 81%, and others with a mark higher than 72% were not given the scholarships for unclear reasons, but it is possible to conclude that these students did not fill their application forms correctly as to entitle them to the scholarship.
The female students got the majority of the scholarships, 23 as opposed to only 16 male students that were able to get the required marks.
