Ahead of the 2021 general elections slated to kick off this Thursday, January 14th, the Uganda Police Force has released strict guidelines for people intending to access Kyambogo University Cricket Grounds.
According to a statement signed by SSP Musinga Norman, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Traffic Commander, the Electoral Commission will conduct the tallying of Presidential results from 14th – 17th January at Kyambogo Cricket Ground.
Musinga added that access to the cricket ground will be restricted to only accredited party officials during this period. According to the statement, other university premises will also be sealed off and only accredited persons will be granted access.
The statement further adds that the Eastern gate will serve as exit for emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire brigade, medical team during the mentioned dates.
It should be recalled that the Kyambogo University cricket ground was also used during the recent presidential nominations after the Ministry of Health took over Namboole stadium, the initial venue where such activities were held.
