The latest African university ranking 2021 according to UniRank has recognised only two Ugandan universities in the Top 100. Makerere University (18th) and Kampala International University (64th).
The latter is a private university that has continuously surprised many in recent rankings; claiming the top spot among private universities. On the other hand, Makerere University’s appearance was not news but her position continues to lower in the ranking.
From top 5 in the previous years to fighting for a place in the top 20, Makerere University seems to take a different path towards progress.

The rankings however included Uganda Christian University in the Top 200 with a 104th position. The detailed ranking can be accessed here.
