Makerere University has announced that only Masters and Doctorate (PhD) graduands will be allowed to access the Freedom Square during their 71st graduation ceremony.
The development comes after the Makerere University Council, the supreme governing body of the public university postponed the graduation that was slated for March 2021 to May the same year.
In a new development, the Makerere University Senate (another top decision making organ of the university) declared that the graduation will be virtual for all undergraduate celebrants with special appearances granted to only Masters and PhD students.
As it turns out, the university has concluded that y’all undergraduates have accessed the Freedom Square plenty of times during your demonstrations and strikes, and should let the elders shine now.
