The murder of an African American man, George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis USA triggered different folks around the globe to have their say on the rampant murder of Black People and attributing it to the act of racism. Few days after Floyd’s death many people in America, England and other parts of the world stormed the streets of their respective cities demanding justice for the deceased.
Using his social media platforms, Makerere University Vice Chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe released a heartfelt message that stands with all the marginalized people worldwide, the Black inclusive. He also requested all world leaders to support black people.
“As the world protests the most savage act of racism in the murder of George Floyd by a police officer in the USA, leaders around the globe must double their efforts to emancipate Black People from poverty,’’ the statement reads.
He concluded by advising the marginalized persons to use quality education to overcome the routine of racism.
“Only quality education will end this vice of marginalization which has thrived for centuries following the barbaric destruction of African civilizations like Egypt, Kush and Songhai by foreign invaders. Makerere University stands with all the marginalized minorities around the world,’’ He concluded in a statement.
