Kyambogo University is poised to host its 20th graduation ceremony, celebrating the achievements of 11,721 students who will officially join the ranks of its esteemed alumni. The ceremony, which spans four days, will take place from Tuesday, December 10, to Friday, December 13, 2024, at the university’s main campus.
This year’s cohort includes 5,704 male and 6,017 female graduands, a testament to the university’s commitment to fostering academic growth and gender inclusivity. Among the notable milestones, eight students will receive Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, while 219 will graduate with master’s degrees in various fields.
The ceremony will also honor academic excellence, with Ms. Rukwanzi Grace emerging as the overall best-performing student with an outstanding CGPA of 4.90. A graduate of the Bachelor of Business Administration program from the School of Management and Entrepreneurship, her achievement highlights the university’s dedication to nurturing top-tier talent.
Mr. Okwang Justine Joel, the best-performing male graduate, will receive a Bachelor of Information Technology and Computing degree, standing out with a stellar CGPA of 4.81.
The graduation will be organized by faculty and school:
- Day 1 (Tuesday, December 10): Faculties of Special Needs and Rehabilitation, and Management and Entrepreneurship will present 3,146 graduands.
- Day 2 (Wednesday, December 11): Arts and Humanities, Vocational Studies, Art and Industrial Design, and Agriculture will see 2,699 students graduate.
- Day 3 (Thursday, December 12): Social Sciences, Science, Computing and Information Science, and Built Environment will award 3,242 degrees.
- Day 4 (Friday, December 13): Education, Engineering, and the Institute of Distance Education and E-Learning will cap off the event with 2,634 graduands.
Her Excellency Jessica Alupo, the Vice President of Uganda, will preside over the event as the Chief Guest on behalf of the President. Each graduate is permitted to bring two guests to the physical ceremony, which will also be streamed live on Kyambogo University’s social media platforms for wider accessibility.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Eli Katunguka Rwalishaya expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their efforts in making the graduation a success. He emphasized the importance of the university’s motto, “Knowledge and Skills for Service,” and encouraged the graduands to uphold it in their future endeavors.
