The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has graduated 2278 students at its 30th graduation held yesterday (June 10) in Mbale.
According to the Academic Registrar of the university, 1169 are females while 1109 males.
“127 are receiving certificates, 279 are graduating with diploma, 1592 are graduating with undergraduate degrees, 89 are receiving post graduate diploma and Masters graduates are 191,” the Academic Registrar announced.
Speaking during the event, the Rector of IUIU Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda advised the new graduates to be innovative in the competitive world.
Professor Gyagenda said the world needs intellectuals who can solve issues rocking societies.
“You are ambassadors of the mighty Islamic University in Uganda. I need to urge you to apply all the skills that you have acquired here. Be innovative and solve challenges that are derailing development of your societies,” the Rector said.
The Secretary General (SG) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Hissein Ibrahim Taha challenged the university to adapt their carriculum in conformity with technological advancement around the world.
The SG’s remarks were delivered by the Assistant Secretary General (Science and Technology) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) His Excellency Ambassador Askar Musinov.
The Chairman University Council of Islamic University in Uganda His Excellency Abdul Aziz Al Zamel Fisal presided over the event.
