International Business, Science And Technology University (ISBAT) held its 16th Graduation ceremony on Thursday, 7th December, 2023 at Hotel Africana.
A total of 450 students graduated in this year’s edition with the most number of graduands coming from IT courses like Networking and cyber security and Artificial intelligence.
Of these, the institute recognized 12 top performers who excelled in their various courses of study. These included;
The 16th graduation ceremony kicked off with the Chancellor’s procession accompanied by Guest of Honor and other dignitaries like the Prof. K.M. Mathew the Vice Chancellor, Special Guest Dr.Gonzalo Wandosell Bobadilla – Dean UCAM University Spain, Mr. Michael O Wanyama ED. HESFB and the Guest of Honour, Hon. John Chrysestom Muyingo – State Minister for Higher Education.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor Prof. K.M. Mathew intimated that the 16th convocation marks an important milestone for ISBAT University.
“I extend my congratulations to the proud parents, sponsors, and guardians who have entrusted us with the fulfillment of their wards’ educational aspirations. We appreciate the confidence placed in our institution and we are committed to providing the best possible educational experience. We are happy that you have been able to embrace the new normal by adapting to the technological advancement in the education sector,” the VC stated.
Prof. K.M. Mathew officially launched the ceremony and the Chancellor subsequently presided over the conferment of degrees upon the graduands.
It should noted that ISBAT has a cordial relationship with UCAM University Spain and this graduation witnessed pioneer students to receive Dual Degree Awards from UCAM Spain.
These graduated with Masters in Business Administration, presented by Special Guest Dr. Gonzalo Wandosell Bobadilla – Dean UCAM University Spain.
Dr. Gonzalo noted that ” graduation is not the end but the beginning of a journey, and you must be prepared to take the steps necessary to achieve your dreams and ambitions.”
He added: “As you venture into the world beyond these academic walls, remember that success is not just about personal achievement but also about making a positive impact on the lives of others.”
This year’s ceremony saw the first batch of loan scheme beneficiaries graduate and the Executive Director of Higher Education Financing Students’ Board (HEFSB) Micheal O Wanyama was present to congratulate them.
“In a special way, I wish to congratulate all of you who are graduating today but more specially the 100 graduates who were sponsored by the Students Loan scheme.We are so proud of you and congratulations for working so hard as to attain this milestone. I take this opportunity to thank the Government of Uganda that has paid your fees and enabled you to achieve your academic dreams,” Mr Wanyama stated.
In general, the 16th congregation was a momentous occasion for all stakeholders of ISBAT given the surge in the number of graduands.
The progress was commended by the the Guest of Honour, Hon. John Chrysestom Muyingo – State Minister for Higher Education.
“I appreciate the measures taken by management in the introduction and successful implementation of the Blended learning teaching methodology. This has widened access to classroom education and made it possible to access study materials from anywhere with no physical or time restrictions,” the Minister remarked.
He also lauded management for ensuring that all the study programmes have been accredited by the National Council for Higher Education for ODeL delivery.
“I am glad that ISBAT University’s focus is on STEM programs and Business. I appreciate not only this strategic choice of courses but also the mode of delivery which provides a practical hands on experience for the learners. This prepares them to become creative innovators and entrepreneurs who can create jobs and uplift our economy. I also commend the University for the Job Portal Initiative which eases the placement of students. I hope that this portal will be scaled to reach the wider student community not only at ISBAT but also at other universities,” he added.
The dignitaries were presented with mementos and the Chancellor dissolved the congregation, marking the end of a colorful ceremony.
