<1,136 students graduate today in the 1st part of the 18th Graduation ceremony of Uganda Christian University where 43 receive first classes. The Attorney General of Uganda honored the event as the chief guest.
Wani Peter Nicholas feels very happy. He did not expect he would be the best student in the whole university. “I did not think I would emerge the best in the whole university.” He actually thought someone else was taking the position. Wani is a graduant who received two awards one from the university and another from the Alumni Association of Uganda Christian University (UCU), during the commissioning ceremony that took place yesterday, 6th July, for being the overall best student at the whole university. The student who was doing a Bachelors of Public Administration (BPAM) got a GPA of 4.82. He recalls that he has been able to get a first-class GPA ever since his first semester of first year.
These and more happened during the 1st part of the 18th graduation of UCU that took place today morning at Mukono campus where up to 1,136 hungry employees were released to the job market.
Many other students and parents of the gradaunts shared this excitement about today. A mother to Munganga Dieudonne, an international student from Congo, in the translation of her comments from Kiswahili, was so happy that the 5 years of the son’s education came to an end today. “I thank God that he has finished” she said.
A guardian to two students Margaret Ameri and Charles Obira who were doing diplomas in theology gives all the glory to God. “This was awesome” he said.
Daphine Musiimire, with a first class feels thankful to God and the parents who stood and encouraged her from the start. She also thanks the university for the conducive environment that helped her through it all. Her parents were very proud of their daughter
“I feel good that I am getting close to my dream. Completion of this degree and the graduation is another stage in my life” says Manze Francis, a student doing a Bachelors in Agricultural science and Entrepreneurship.
The speeches complimented the excitement of these students.
“One’s attitude is the most important because it determines your character“ These were some of the words the Attorney General of Uganda , the guest of honour, John Muwanga mentioned today during the 1st part of the 18th Graduation Ceremony at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono Campus. He also added that one’s education is “as much a personal benefit as it is a corporate good.”
The Chancellor of the university, Arch-Bishop Ntagali in his speech, said that the church of Uganda is “proud of what UCU has become” commenting of the progresses the university has gone through being able to release students through graduation every year, and also the development projects it is currently undertaking.
On the developments, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. John Senyonyi still reiterated what he has been saying over and over again urging the Government of Uganda to give private universities tax waivers to be able to offer the students valued education.
He also boasts of the institution saying that UCU produces the best in the country because the university “offers the best education.” The VC also decided to defend the university’s name from the allegations that the university is money minded.
“The feeling of my name being read excited me the most” says Becky Leah who graduated from BPAM
Congratulations upon this milestone.
