The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has pledged to continue supporting the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU).
The remarks were made by the High Commissioner-Designate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency Muhammad Hassan Wazir during the meeting with the IUIU Rector Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda at IUIU Kampala Campus.
The High Commissioner to Uganda commended IUIU’s progress since its inception in 1988 and said his country is committed to supporting the university to contribute to the social-economic growth of Uganda, Africa, and the world.
In his address, the IUIU Rector Prof Gyagenda said the university has dedicated members of staff who have endured to ensure the growth of the university despite the limited resources.
He also stated that the responsibility of the Rector and members of the IUIU community is to change the mindset of the people positively, especially in the areas of academic collaborations, investment opportunities, and commercial activities.
Recently, The Islamic University in Uganda signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with top Universities in Pakistan as part of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC’s ) Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Agenda 2026 which aims at accelerating STI capacity in all the 57 member states of OIC.
