Pertaining to a Motion of No Confidence moved against the Guild President of Kyambogo University, Tundulu Jonathan on Thursday 26th September by his own Cabinet Ministers, the Guild Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Kidega Brian has convened a GRC sitting scheduled for Wednesday 2nd October, 2019 where Tundulu will either be maintained as the Guild President or impeached.
In a letter addressed to the Students’ fraternity dated 27th September, Kidega informed them of the ongoing situation in the Guild Council.
“I inform you of the GRC sitting which will take place on 2nd October, 2019 to determine the stay of Tundulu Jonathan as the Guild President of the Mighty Kyambogo University. This date shall be the 7th day from the receipt of the motion as stated in Article 10, Clause 3, Section A, Sub Section b,” the letter read in a part.
In accordance with Article 10, Clause 3 (A) of the Kyambogo University Guild Constitution, the motion of no confidence will need to be carried out by the members of the GRC by secret ballot in order for the Guild President to be thrown out of office. This shall require a two thirds majority of the entire G.R.C. by secret ballot. In the event of it being carried, Tundulu Jonathan will be required to vacate office within three days through official resignation.
It should be noted that there has been a lot of relentlessness in Kyambogo’s Guild Leadership ever since the month of September commenced. Kyambogo’s Guild President has faced his roughest days after an entire 14 Member Cabinet turned against him in a move aimed at taming his excesses.
