Kyambogo University’s 21st graduation ceremony wasn’t just about academic giants and top CGPAs. It also turned the campus into a runway, with the girls of the Class of 2024 stepping out in eye-catching outfits that had the crowd whispering, pointing and snapping photos faster than the procession could move.
From the early morning arrivals, it was clear the day belonged to colour. One group of graduands lit up the walkway in bright orange gomesis, while another crew showed up in sleek, modern dresses that wouldn’t look out of place at a Kampala red-carpet event. Cameras kept swivelling to catch the shine.

Parents came for degrees but stayed for the fashion show.
The biggest trend of the day? Confidence. Whether wrapped in traditional wear or rocking high-fashion glamour, the graduands owned the moment. Some posed with entire cheering squads; others struck quick photo-shoot stances before hurrying off to collect their awards.

Even lecturers couldn’t hide their smiles as students swept past, glittering earrings swinging, gowns floating, heels clicking across the pavement.
Vendors did brisk business, too. Flower bouquets disappeared within minutes, and photographers practically jogged from one photoshoot to the next.

By afternoon, social media was already flooded with slideshows and TikTok clips titled things like “Kyambogo Slay Parade” and “Who Said Graduation Can’t Be Fashion Week?” Each video racked up comments praising the students for bringing colour and style to an otherwise formal ceremony.

Graduation may be about books, but this year, Kyambogo’s girls reminded everyone that a little glam never hurt anyone. If degrees were handed out for fashion sense, the entire class would have graduated First Class.
