Earlier yesterday (Wednesday, June 5), the Makerere University Vice-Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe together with the Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR) Director Prof Mahmood Mamdani officially unveiled the institute’s new state of the art library.
According to the university’s official Twitter account, this library will act as the new face of MISR with a state of the art Pavilion hosting conference and meeting facilities. The library has also been designed with natural reading spaces, an environment set to inspire young researchers to spare more time reading from campus.
Also present at the unveiling moment were members of the University Central Management who were spotted touring the new facilities.
Fully packed with books, the new library has received positive vibes from students and Makerere alumni despite few questions from people who want to know whether the library is equipped with computers.
“Congs. But where are the computers? All I see are physical books. In this age?” commented one twitter user named Emmanuel Luyirika.
