ISBAT University in Kampala on Thursday graduated a total of 233 students during the university’s 14th graduation ceremony that was held at Hotel Africana. The ceremony was officiated by Hon. Amos Lugolobi, Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development as the Chief Guest.
The blended ceremony, which was also streamed online was graced by State Minister for Higher Education, Hon. Dr. John Chyrsostom Muyingo. The event was organized while observing COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health in a bid to slow the spread of the virus.
Out of the 233 graduands, 47 were female while187 were male. A total of 76 students graduated with first-class honors. Besides ISBAT students, the ceremony also served as a graduation event for APTECH Computer Engineering students who walked away with certificates in their respective qualifications.
While speaking at the graduation ceremony, Hon. Lugolobi lauded the university for embracing online learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Lugolobi, ISBAT University is the leading tech-Based university in the country having trained his son to become one of the best software engineers at NITA-U.
Hon. Lugolobi confessed that his son joined ISBAT for a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, who later graduated with a first-class. He instantly upgraded to a Master’s before passing the NITA-U job interview excellently.
‘My son came to this university for a Bachelor’s Degree which he completed with a first-class and immediately went for a Master’s Degree and now he is a software engineer.” Lugolobi confessed
In his address to the graduands, Hon. JC Muyingo, the Minister for Higher Education thanked the ISBAT administration for giving students free internet for online studies.
“ISBAT University was given clearance by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to roll out Open Distance Learning which culminated to online examinations. I have learned that online examinations were successfully conducted with the support of modern technology and use of artificial intelligence techniques. “ Muyingo said.
“Students were also provided with free internet data, this is a very noble initiative by the university. “ He added.
Also present at the event was Mr. Varghese Mundamattam, Chairman, Board of Directors ISBAT University who delivered an inspiring speech to the congregation.
Hon. Fred Jachan Omach, Chancellor ISBAT University urged graduands to thank their parents and sponsors for investing in their transformation process. He further advised them to utilize all the opportunities they get in a bid to secure a brighter future.
