Makerere university students are demonstrating ahead of today’s parliamentary sitting. It is anticipated that a motion seeking for leave to draft a private member’s bill to amend article 102 (b) is today set to be tabled before parliament. Article 102 (b) does not allow a Ugandan below the age of 35 and above the age of 75 to run for president.
Makerere students have taken to the streets to demonstrate against lifting of the age limit to favour President Museveni to run for president in 2021. “This is a national cause and we shall not rest until our members of parliament heed to our plea. Museveni should go home and pave way for the young blood take charge,” a demonstrating student bellowed.
