Some officers tasked to monitor violence at Makerere University were today spotted at Mitchell Hall chasing a student who was only wearing a boxer. After few slaps and kicks, this student managed to run away from them and headed to the opposite side of the hall.
According to police officers who tried to chase him, this student was apparently inciting violence. One police officer was later overheard saying; “Let’s leave and stop chasing around these young boys” after the planned demonstration turned into a hide and seek game between students and police.
Police together with the Military red top police managed to disperse most groups that were initially planning to march to parliament by firing teargas and arresting a few. Unlike the previous demonstration, the divided Makerere students did not succeed with their plan as most of them were scattered in different places.
