As Eid Al-Adha celebrations rocked many parts of country, H.E President Kaguta Museveni was ‘breathing life’ in yet another University has he commissioned in Arua Municipality based.
The president and the Minister of Education who also happens to be the First lady officially launched Muni University. While commissioning a number of infrastructure and blocks at the university, the President also noted that Government has so far spent Shs 13 billion on the university’s construction and disclosed that more will be spent on its expansion.
President Museveni at the same event also installed Eng Dr.Eric Tiyo Sekebuga Adriko as the first Chancellor of Muni University. Dr Adriko is the former second Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and will be taking on the new role of championing the well being of the university.
Speaking at the commissioning in Arua, the President flanked by the First lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni encouraged the staff to teach marketable, purpose-driven courses and affirmed that the government will increase their salaries.
“I want to assure academicians that gov’t will increase their salaries as the country’s economy improves. I wish Muni University staff & students all the best”, the President noted.
Muni University is a Public university established by the Statutory Instrument, 2013 No. 31, in accordance with the Universities & Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2006 as amended.
