Miss University Uganda 2016/2017 held a car wash at Panamera Bar last Saturday, the 22nd to be able to raise funding for the Save a life, Save a nation campaign.
The save a life, save a nation campaign was started by the Miss University, Atuhaire Mackline together with the two runners up Barlow Alice and Tekitendwa Shiela, to raise funds to support the people in Teso region living in the worst conditions of poverty, and disease. The campaign has been running since May.
The car wash that started at 8am drew many people and some of Ugandan celebrities, A pass, Joel Senyonyi, Dr. Mich, Emeka, Allan Hendrick, John Marie and Levixone among others flock the bar to have their cars washed upon paying a fee.
Despite the activities that were taking place that day, the legends rugby game, some soccer match elsewhere, then the rain, people were actually able to come and support the cause.
Atuhaire was very appreciative of the people that made it. “Am so privileged that people were really able to come and give for this cause” she says.
This weekend, the 29th will be the first distribution date where the campaign will move to some of the schools in Teso to donate to them what was collected.
A Pass sampled free style music upon request of his fans. Also, dance groups entertained the attendants. HimKim and Emeka the comedian had some interesting flows to the instrumentals that were played, bringing excitement and light to the car wash.
“For all you were able to give, we shall be delivering to the people of Teso and show them the people at the car wash really supported them. May God bless you richly” she adds.
The second distribution will take place on the 26th of August. Miss University has another fundraiser event in plan to have more people donate to the cause.
