Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) was covered in ululations as hundreds attained academic awards at the 30th convocation.
The eventful ceremony was held today, 24th February, 2024 at MUST Kihumuro, Mbarara City.
A total of 1,470 graduands have been conferred diplomas, masters, and PhDs and of these, 886 are males and 584 are females.
A further statistical breakdown indicated that 1264 graduates were undergraduates, 206 with masters degrees and 10 Doctor of Philosophy (PhDs).
In his opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Celestino Obua thanked Mbarara University staff for the tremendous job they have always done and also requested for a moment of silence to remember the fallen students and staff who embarked on this journey but, sadly couldn’t celebrate such a today.
The Chief Guest was the Minister of State for Higher Education Hon. Dr. John Chrysestom Muyingo who commended MUST for “giving back to our communities especially through school practice, Medical camps, the community twinning project and more.”
In a special way, the best performing students per course were recognized and awarded for the outstanding feat. They were handed plaques and a photo moment with the chief guest.
