UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication on Friday held its 13th graduation ceremony in a function that also doubled as the institute’s 25th anniversary. The school celebrated 25 years of media empowerment and transformation.
Speaking of graduation, well, over 250 students walked away with qualifications in various disciplines at a function held at UMCAT’s Kampala Campus situated along Kyadondo Road. While delivering his speech to the graduands, the Minister urged the young scholars never to give up while narrating how he lost his father when he was just in senior three.
“I know you have friends who gave up and now are regretting, right? In life we hear more NOs than YES. It was at this time I remember the 28th day of March 2004 when I received my first degree and defeated the spirit of Kugaana and from there I have never rested up to now. About two to three years I think of what course do I need, I go for another Masters’. So never giver up.” Kyofatogabye said.
During the institute’s 13th graduation ceremony, four Diploma graduands walked away with first class.
Methia L. Nabawanda, a social media influencer was among hundreds that walked away with journalism skills. Nabawanda told Campus Bee that school has been hard but she tried. The excited Nabawanda vowed to continue with her social media influencing gigs in a more broad and journalistic way.
