As Makerere University kicked off their four-day graduation ceremony today (Tuesday January 14th), thousands of graduands arrived at the Freedom Square (where the ceremony was held) rocking their best outfits for their big day.
The ceremony was officiated by the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who represented President Museveni as the chief guest. Also present was the Minister of Education and Sports Hon Janet Kataha Museveni, the Makerere University Chancellor Prof Ezra Suruma, and Vice-Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe among other top officials.
The four-day ceremony will see a total of 13,509 graduands (50.5% female and 49.5% male) conferred upon degrees and awarded diplomas. A total of 420 Graduands obtained a Cummulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) above 4.40 hence attaining first class segrees.
