On Tuesday afternoon, supporters from different camps stormed the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) football pitch to witness the official nomination of their respective candidates. The University’s electoral commission has confirmed the nomination of five aspirants (all male) vying for the position of guild president out of the six that submitted their nomination forms.
Among the nominated candidates include; Bashir Ibanda, Ntende Julius, Katura Brandon, Mugabe Edson, and Mark Hillary Kayongo. The sixth candidate in the names of Eric Mpora was not nominated due to failure to submit all the required documents. The EC gave him Wednesday as the last day to submit all the required papers as his nomination stays pending.
The nominated candidates were given an opportunity to speak to their voters but they were not allowed to unveil their manifestoes due to limited time. They will launch their manifestoes next week on Wednesday 4th April, when the second public rally will be held.
Today’s event featured entertainment where each camp was tasked to send a representative to entertain revelers as nomination of their candidates went down. It was at the entertainment moment when the MUBS booty queens showed what they got from their mamas by showcasing a couple of killer dance moves. According to the University’s EC, the nominated guild aspirants are expected to hold their rallies between 8am to 7pm around campus premises, whoever is found campaigning beyond the stated time would have initiated his automatic disqualification.
