In a bid to revive the state of Uganda’s second largest public university Kyambogo, reconstruction was kicked off last year to erect more modernized infrastructure to cater for the increasing number of students who get admitted to the institution each year that passes by.
Courtesy of a loan worthy of $28m (shs975b secured from the African Development Bank by the ministry of education and sports to support higher education science and technology, $13m (shs45.1bn) was to go towards the reconstruction of infrastructure at KYU inclusive of eight laboratories, a civil engineering workshop, lecture rooms and a state of the art library and the project was launched by the now ex -minister of education and sports Hon. Jessica Alupo on 21st April 2016.
A year and a half later, we look into the progress of these projects- and it is clear, the face of Kyambogo (dilapidated buildings) is changing for the better. Here’s an exclusive sneak peek of some of the yet to be completed buildings.
