The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) is marking Eid al-Adha with an unprecedented celebration of sacrifice and generosity.
The university has commemorated the holy occasion by slaughtering 1,000 cows.
According to the official IUIU X channel, the massive charitable initiative was supported by Turkish donors, sharing the joy of the festival with the broader community.
The university has organized the slaughter of the cattle as part of the religious observance that commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
The beef from the slaughtered cattle has been distributed free of charge to members of the general public, extending the blessings of Eid al-Adha to families and individuals who might not otherwise have access to meat during the festivities.
Besides the large scale slaughter, hundreds turned up for Eid Al Adha prayers at IUIU Main Campus in Mbale.
