Mbale police is holding a one Wilson Kadasa in custody for allegedly shooting dead Kelly Tumusiime, a year one student at Busitema university Mbale.
Wilson Kadaga, a guard working with Alpha security services was arrested for shooting dead Busitema university’s first year student Kelly Tumusiime who had been pursuing a Bachelor of science in Anaesthesia. The arrest was confirmed by Rogers Taitika – the Elgon region police spokes person.
According to an eye witness, Kelly Tumusiime a resident of Mbale industrial division was shot on Saturday morning (12th February, 2022) at around 1am beside Tuni hardware in Mbale city by a watch man.
Police investigations reveal that the deceased was shot at having been suspected for a thief by Alpha security’s officer Wilson Kadaga.
Kelly (deceased) was rushed to Mbale Referral hospital in a very critical condition before he breathed his last hours later.
While some believe Wilson Kadaga should be held accountable for this act, some residents say he should be set free since he was only doing his duty of being a watchman and Kelly Tumusiime only fell into his trap.
Since the occurrence of Kelly’s unfortunate ending, the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) has come out to condemn the act of shooting at students as it expressed remorse and mourned together with the Busitema university fraternity.
