While addressing the media today morning, the Makerere University academic registrar Alfred Nomoah Masikye has revealed the main reason why police has been deployed at examination centers.
According to Masikye, police have been stationed at these places to ensure that no student forcefully enters the examination room without exam permits due to uncleared tuition fees. Masikye adds that the police is intended to stop fees defaulters from forcefully entering the examination rooms like they have been doing over the past exam processes.
The University management has therefore made a procedure for all students to present their University identity cards and examination permits in order to seat for their end of semester exams that kicked off today morning at around 8.00am.
“Examinations started today at 8 o’clock across all colleges of the University. The students have been issued with examination permits and most of them have got their identity cards and we have requested that each student who enters must identify himself using those documents” Masikye revealed.
Makerere’s tight security at examination centers happens to be one of the ways used to avoid likely hooliganism and chaos at the University.
