Kyambogo University guild presidency elections are ongoing peacefully. Police is heavily deployed to maintain a peaceful election.
Three candidates are running for the 2015/16 guild seat however stiff competition is between NRM’s Ian Kafukko, and FDC’s Nsubuga Julius.
FDC president, Gen Mugisha Muntu has vowed to camp at the Kyambogo campus to ensure that the elections go on peacefully. Muntu says that they want to ensure that no one disrupts the elections and that their FDC candidate is not cheated in anyway. However, no one has set eyes on him at the Banda based campus as yet.
Meanwhile two FDC students from Kyambogo University who were arrested for interfering in the concluded guild campaigns have been released by Jinja road police station. Mugabi Gilbert and Akol Christine were released on a police bond last evening.
