Police in Rwizi region along sister security organizations are investigating 13 suspects in connection to theft of students property that were arrested in an ongoing operation that started last week.
Among the arrested suspected criminals, are 7 electronic technicians working from different workshops in Mbarara town, who were arrested last week and are now awaiting charges for being found in possession of stolen goods from students.
The arrested have been allegedly trading in stolen phones, laptops and a number of exhibits are at Mbarara Central Police Station as investigations carry on.
The Rwizi police spokesperson Samson Kasasira confirmed the operation and called upon students across Mbarara and the public to visit the Central Police Station and check for their lost items.
This comes after reports that serial numbers of items stolen are changed and taken to other parts of the country.
