As Uganda Christian University continues to tighten its relationship with Uganda Police, it has kept hosting police bosses at its Mukono main campus a couple of times. The recent police visit was comprised of Uganda police directors and Deputy IGP Martin Okoth Ochola.
In his speech, Ochola commended UCU for the good job on releasing good graduates many of which have been recruited in the police force, “A number of graduates from here have joined police and we are really proud of them,” Ochola said.
The deputy inspector general of police also praised the University’s cleanness, integrity, and calmness. It should be noted that UCU also had a tight relationship with Andrew Felix Kaweesi who had scheduled to visit the University on the day he was gunned down.
However, the Uganda police’s relationship with Makerere University has never been so smooth compared to UCU’s as the Wandegeya based students are always arrested over strikes and other crime related issues. The recent arrests at Makerere happened this week on Wednesday when the former guild president was nabbed over campaigns against presidential age limit. The Makerere University police post must be the busiest University police in Uganda basing on the number of crimes that make headlines from Makerere.
