A new finding by BANG, a moral instilling organization reveals that quite a number of university students watch pornography, carry out abortions and are thus morally decayed.
Dr Peace Musimenta, the former vice chairperson who is currently overseeing the welfare office at BANG says that at least 32% of the university population watches pornography. She adds that most university students engage in immoral acts and that 12% out of these get pregnant while a large number carry out abortions.
Dr Musimenta also notes that campus students tend to sexualize everything with a lot of peer pressure to engage in relationships as early as their first year of study. According to Musimenta, immoral decay is high among freshers and finalist.
Dr Peace Musimenta made this shocking revelation on 8th March, 2022, at BANG’s 2nd university seminar held at Makerere university at the CTF auditorium. The seminar was centered on teaching university students how to manage their sexuality while at campus.
While speaking to the Bee, Edith Wanyenya one of the student representatives at BANG said they are here to instill morals in the world’s next generation so in the end the country deals away with corrupt professionals such as Doctors that hide drugs.
“We are here to build a society that has moral values and character,” Edith said.
Its public knowledge that immoral decay is a major vice in higher institutions of learning with recent findings proving that most students have sex during their stay at the university. The pornographic consumption rate in Uganda remains high despite earlier attempts by the former minister of ethics the Late Father Lokodo who described it as a ‘western invasion’ in his 2017 fight against pornographic consumption.
BANG is an organization that is gradually growing with an intent of building a new generation of youth with values, morals and character who will in the end make a great nation.
