According to Makerere university’s latest academic calendar, students in their final year of study will report physically at the university for two weeks prior to their end of semester examinations.
In a letter dated October 25, Alfred Masikye, Makerere’s academic registrar guided thus: Finalists are to report on November 1st and kick start exams after a fortnight on 15th November.
Makerere university finalists are however frowning faces at this arrangement. Finalists allege that they have not been learning online and can’t henceforth do exams after only two weeks of learning.
Through the academic minister Shamim Nambassa, finalist are asking VC Barnabas Nawangwe to hear their plea and postpone exams to a latter date. Finalists want exams to be pushed to at least the start of December so they steal off time and do some extra reading.
Other students at Makerere are expected to start their exams on January 3rd (next year) after blended online and physical learning. The exams, unlike those of the previous semester, shall be done physically.
First years will report at campus for 4 weeks on November 1st together with finalists and latter continue learning online as their counterparts in year two and other years join in on 27th November for a month of physical lectures
