Mbarara University has just recently received USD 12.5 million loan from the African Development Bank. This money was secured by the Government of Uganda under the Higher Education, Science and Technology (HEST) Project. The loan is meant to go into building a library block and 3 multi-purpose laboratories.
The facilities will be built at the new Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology at Mbarara University of Science and Technology‘s Kihumuro Campus.
The ground breaking ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Sports, Hon. Maj Jessica Alupo who also got a chance to view the construction works.
The ceremony was attended by the University Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mugyenyi; The Chairperson of the University Council, Dr. Ben Mbonye and Mbarara University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor, Prof. Celestino Obua among others.
