President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will grace the 35th national students’ council where he will be endorsed by student leaders to run for presidency in 2026.
Wasswa Christopher, speaker Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) said on January 9th, 2025, that the students body is ready to endorse president Museveni at the council.
“We wish to thank our patron, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for accepting to address the National Students’ council, and receive the students’ endorsement…we have decided to stand by our patron in the 2025/2026 presidential elections,” Wasswa said.
Okot Francis, the president UNSA said they are ready to mobilise students and move across the different parts of the country seeking support for Museveni’s 2026 presidential bid.
The 35th national students Council will be held at Seeta High A campus from January 19th to January 22nd. UNSA delegates are expected to vote for the new UNSA executive during the Council.
Wassswa Christopher noted that they have continued to face several challenges during their tenure such as lack of adequate funds to run the association’s activities.
