Student leaders under the umbrella foundation, Uganda National Students Association (UNSA), were beaten up by unknown assailants that, according to the students, described themselves as ‘government officials’.
According to UNSA Secretary for Information, Denis Obita, members of the students association were on November 24 “beaten up” during a press conference at Makerere University.
“The General Secretary of Uganda National Students Association was beaten up, the laptop broken after ruining a press conference at Makerere university staff canteen,” said Obita. Adding that they receive a lot of calls from people saying that they top officials in government offices.
UNSA is thought to be behind Mbabazi and recently mooted the idea of replacing President Museveni as their patron in January, with the NRM Secretary General.
The group accuses Museveni of ignoring their functions and that he does not take UNSA as a serious body.
