Professor Augustus Nuwagaba, an international consultant on economic transformation was on Wednesday officially installed as the 34th President of Rotary Club of Muyenga district 9211. The installation event was held at Las Vegas Hotel in Bbunga.
During the event, a total of 15 members were inducted in the mentioned club making the total number of its members 162. Among the inductees was Sheilah Nduhukire, the Principal Public Relations Officer at National Medical Stores – NMS. Hon. Jessica Alupo, the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda was also expected to be inducted but she was unable to attend the event due to official duties.

Nuwagaba, who has been a Professor at Makerere University for the last 26 years Replaced Hanifah Wamala who served as the club’s 33rd president. While delivering her handover speech, Wamala revealed that she enjoyed every bit of the journey while serving as president.
“My year was wonderful, I enjoyed every bit of it because you were there. Everything that I asked for, you were always there. There were a lot of challenges like the pandemic but there was a lot of resilience at RCM.” Wamala said.
While speaking to fellow Rotarians, Nuwagaba vowed to take the club from greatness through significance to an iconic club. According to Nuwagaba, RCM is the best club in Africa and the President of Uganda knows about its work.
“What we do in Rotary is to serve above self to ensure that the village, family, community, develops as a whole. That’s why we say it is serving above self for the whole community and country. So we want to challenge government that when we talk about growth, it is for everyone. It is not supposed to be concentrated in the hands of few. “ Nuwagaba said.

“If you have growth that is only for a few, then you cannot have peace. The only road to peace and prosperity is shared growth. “ He added.
Fresh off installation, Nuwagaba revealed that they are going to implement a USD 1.2 million project in Soroti.
The event was officiated by John Musinguzi Rujoki, a mathematician and corporate executive who serves as the Commissioner-General of the Uganda Revenue Authority – URA.
