News coming in from the neighboring country of Kenya confirms that Professor George Mondo Kagonyera was unveiled as the new Chancellor of The East African University (TEAU).
Prof Kagonyera was revealed as the 2nd Chancellor of TEAU in a virtual ceremony that was held on Friday last week.
The East African University is a private university that is situated in the capital of Kenya Nairobi.
Prof Kagonyera is a politician, academic, and university administrator. He served as Chancellor of Makerere University for two terms before handing over the tools to the current Chancellor Professor Ezra Suruma.
As a politician, he served as the Member of Parliament for Rubabo constituency in Rukungiri District and Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister.
He also served as the deputy managing director of the Ugandan National Social Security Fund from 2006 until 2008.
