Makerere University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe has responded to the trending woes involving the CEO of Uganda Airlines, Jennifer Bamuturaki.
While appearing before the parliamentary committee on commissions, statutory authorities and state enterprises (COSASE), last week, Jenifer Bamuturaki said she had never received her academic transcript 28 years after graduation.
The head of the national carrier pointed fingers at Makerere University regarding the absence of her academic documents.
Jenifer Bamuturaki graduated from Makerere University in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in social works and social administration.
The revelation raised debate in the public with mixed reactions and Prof Nawangwe shared his view with a subsequent demand for an apology.
“I am told that the CEO herself picked the transcript yesterday, so if it was lost, how did she just come to pick it? I think that was a careless statement that depicts Makerere as a careless institution and she should actually apologize to the university,” he lamented.
Jenifer Bamuturaki is under fire to prove her capabilities as an overseer of the Uganda Airlines and her plan to use Makerere University as scapegoat for her shortcomings seems to go south.
The vetting process is still ongoing and the debate on Bamuturaki’s appointment is far from over.
