A team from Makerere university, Yesterday 28th February 2022, visited Richard Sebugunda, a medical student who was injured by a teargas canister.
The team was led by the University Vice Chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe together with the dean of students Ms. Winnie Kabumbuli who stormed Mulago hospital to check on the health of their student who was injured by a teargas canister that was thrown into his residence room during students strike.
Prof Nawangwe and Ms. Kabumbuli held discussions with Sebugunda on plans of his recovery. They also thanked his mum for taking care of him.
Few hours later, a team from the National Unity Platform (NUP) led by the party Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, Nubian Li and Makerere University Guild President Shamim Nambasa also paid a visit to Sebugunda.
It’s alleged that while controlling the students’ led strike against online lectures on 8th February 2022, a teargas canister was accidentally thrown into Lumumba hall injuring Sebugunda by blasting his right hand.
