Prof. Nawangwe orders illegal occupants of Makerere land to leave
Professor Barnabus Nawangwe, the vice Chancellor of Makerere University has ordered all those in illegal occupation of land belonging to the oldest public university in Uganda to leave by the end of this year.
This land, which some of the encroachers illegally attained land titles to possess includes parts of Katalemwa in Wakiso district, land on Sir. Apollo Kaggwa road, Kololo in Kampala and land in Buyana in Mpigi district.
Prof. Nawange expressed that it is totally unfair and unthinkable for these people to illegally occupy the University land and yet there is need to engage in productive activities so as to enable sustainable development and strengthen the position of the University
It should be dully noted that during the instation of Prof. Barnabus Nawangwe on 14th of September, 2017, President Yoweri Museveni ordered those illegally occupying Makerere land to leave or face the wrath of the law. To this date, it seems like they are not about to heed to this warning. It therefore leaves many questioning whether they will actually leave by the end of this year as requested by Nawange. We shall keep you posted
