Prof. Barnabus Nawangwe petitioned the Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago over the conduct of Doreen Nyanjura, an outspoken University councilor to KCCA commonly known as ‘FDC Preacher’ on Friday the 28th day of September, 2018.
This comes a month after Prof. Nawangwe severally suspended students from the University for circulating inciting messages on social media.
The Vice Chancellor claimed that Nyanjura has encouraged behavior among students which is not compatible with a University of international reputation. He went on to emphasize that Nyanjura has funded students to engage in disruptive activities.
In a letter addressed to the Lord Mayor, Prof. Nawangwe brought to his attention Nyanjura’s unbecoming behavior which is most likely to drag the reputation of the University in the mud.
“Ms. Nyanjura should desist from promoting hooliganism among students of Makerere University. The University should remain stable and academically progressive,” noted Nawangwe.
When Nyanjura was contacted for a comment, she claimed that Nawangwe was only a dictator who is not welcome to dialogue.
“I beg him to cease the act of casting aspersions on my character just because I disagree with his oppressive administration. I will not be intimidated in the face of injustices,” Nyanjura asserted.
It is now left to the Lord Mayor as to whether he will make a response in regard to this letter. We shall continue to keep you posted on further developments on this story.
