Prof Fabian Nabugomu was on Wednesday appointed as the acting Vice Chancellor (VC) of Kyambogo University by the university council.
Nabugomu who assumes office tomorrow is Kyambogo’s First Deputy Vice Chancellor who is also known as VC in charge of Finance and Administration.
So the question in context, is what next for Prof Isaiah Ndiege Omolo who’s contract expires today?
Prof. John Okedi the University Council chairman says a committee will be setup in a duration of two weeks to mount a rigorous search for a new young boisterous head of the second biggest University in Uganda.
Okedi said: Prof. “Ndiege is also eligible to re-apply through this process and be vetted like others who may apply.” But Sources close to Prof Ndiege intimate that the embattled VC is sure of landing another term. “He is related to William Ruto, the Kenyan Prime Minister who is a friend to the President of Uganda so surely, there is a 90% chance of getting his way back to office,” a source who preferred anonymity intimated Campusbee.
Prof Ndiege declined giving his comment on this citing its irrelevance before the vetting process.
Whether Prof Ndiege will regain his position as the VC of Kyambogo or not remains in question until the vetting process is done.
