Fresh news coming in from the corridors of Makerere University indicates that Makerere University Chancellor, Prof Ezra Suruma has finally appointed Prof Nawangwe as Prof Ddumba’s replacement whose term expires next week.
We can now reliably report that an appointment letter from Suruma arrived in Nawangwe’s hands yesterday Thursday 24th August ahead of his new big office at Makerere University. According to Prof Charles Wana-etyem the University Council chairperson, Ddumba will officially hand over his office to Nawangwe next week 31st August and installation for the new VC will be communicated later.
After defeating Prof Venasius Baryamureeba and Edward Kirumira with 15 votes out of the 24, Prof Nawangwe emerged the best candidate whose name was later handed over to Prof Ezra Suruma for confirmation. However, Baryamureeba was not left convinced of the final results of the voting citing corruption amongst Makerere University Council members.
