PROFILE! Who is Prof. Moses Muhwezi the Newly Appointed Principal of MUBS?

Prof. Moses Muhwezi (PhD) has been officially appointed as the Principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), becoming the second individual to hold this position in the institution’s 28-year history. His appointment marks a significant milestone for MUBS as it continues to build upon its legacy of excellence in business education and leadership.

Academic and Professional Background

Prof. Muhwezi’s academic journey is both distinguished and extensive. He earned his PhD in Public Procurement from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, showcasing his deep expertise in procurement and supply chain management. His academic achievements also include:

  • Master of Philosophy in Public Procurement from Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands.
  • MBA in Accounting and Finance from Makerere University.
  • Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accounting, also from Makerere University.

These qualifications have laid a robust foundation for his impactful career in academia and procurement.

Prof. Muhwezi is recognized for his active participation in numerous professional bodies and committees, underscoring his influence in procurement and supply management. His memberships include:

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS)
  • Institute of Public Procurement Professionals in Uganda (IPPU)
  • Dutch Procurement Association
  • Industrial Marketing and Purchasing Group (IMP)

He has also served on the Technical Committee of Procurement Experts for COMESA States and held the position of Vice Chairperson of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, Uganda Chapter.
