Nkozi University lecturer Jimmy Spire Ssentongo has been discharged after being in quarantine for 24 days. He was isolated since 18th March at Arch apartments in Ntinda.
Ssentongo referred his discharge as a freedom from struggle that he has fought since last week on Wednesday. He had to be discharged after finishing his 14 days but was instead retained because one of the people at the facility had tested positive.
He carried out hunger strikes as a show of discontent and fight for freedom with reports suggesting that he had not eaten for the past two days.
“I’m finally free, just been abruptly released. Details will be coming later after breaking my hunger strike. Thank you all,” Ssentongo posted on one of his social media platforms.
