Amidst heart wrecking wails, Makerere third Year Journalism and Communication student, Esther Nakitende was on Monday afternoon finally put to rest at her ancestral grounds in Nakaseke. The priest at the ceremony declared that if someone does something bad to a person, it should be done to them 1000 times. He hence finished by saying that the suspect in this death should be dealt with accordingly.
Makerere University showed its support by providing a University bus for fellow students to pay their last respects to their friend, classmate and University leader. A political science test for the third year class was also postponed to favor those that went for Nakitende’s burial.
The deceased was stubbed to death on the weekend by her cousin, Robinson Buule who cold bloodedly raped her before stubbing the life out of her. This happened after the deceased denied him rent money that she had collected from home tenants.
Buule is still on the run and photos of him were pinned on the burial ground windows and police numbers given out to people in case they get any information. May her soul rest in Eternal Peace.
