Campus Bee has exclusively learned that the Minister of Education and Sports (MoES) and First Lady Ms Janet Museveni is set to meet heads of schools and institutions tomorrow, 17th July at State House Entebbe to discuss a way forward as far as resumption of schools and universities is concerned.
This comes exactly 4 months since President Museveni closed all education institutions on 18th March 2020 to curb the spread of COVID-19 amongst the over 15 million leaners.
Despite the numerous plans that came along during the lockdown to re-open schools, the increasing number of COVID-19 cases couldn’t see these plans come to life.
Mr Ismail Mulindwa, the Director of Basic and Secondary Education in the Ministry of Education yesterday re-assured the public that there’s still hope for re-opening of schools despite the increasing cases of Covid-19. This, he said at the National Dialogue aimed at mitigating the negative impact of the pandemic on Education.
“I can assure the public that the Ministry of Education still has plans for the re-opening of schools regardless of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases” Mulindwa revealed.
